Stuttafords

Stuttafords is a luxury South African department store that was founded 150 years ago. It is known for being an aspirational destination, stocked with designer brands and famous for its in-store experience. The brand recently changed owners and needed a fresh brand identity that pays respect to the heritage of Stuttafords.

I took inspiration from the architectural details of the famous Stuttafords Art Deco building on Adderley Street. I then created a bespoke logotype based on the stylised geometry and stepped outline motif of the building’s façade.

The logo is supported by Art Deco patterning that nods to the glamour of the brand's past and brings luxury back into the shopping experience.
